Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is crucial in maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is effectively followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safe care environment aligned with organizational values.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and take responsibility for direct patient care using the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education upon admission, anticipating discharge dates.
- Communicate all pertinent patient status changes to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
- Offer direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel and ensure safety in the care environment.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing reassurance to staff and patients.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested and identify opportunities for professional growth.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (for specific units).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
- Minimum one (1) year of ICU experience highly desired.
