Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding contract role as a full-time, in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), supporting students across multiple schools near Salinas, CA. Use your expertise to help students who are visually impaired reach their highest potential. In this itinerant position, you’ll collaborate closely with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams, making a direct difference in students’ educational accessibility and success.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching credential with certification in Visual Impairments
  • Previous experience as a TVI or in a school setting preferred
  • Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology for the visually impaired, and development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and travel between school sites as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in various grade levels
  • Assess student needs, design, and adapt instruction to foster independence and academic success
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Create and modify educational materials for accessibility, including Braille and large print
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student evaluations and progress reports
  • Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with stakeholders
