Special Education Teacher in Arlington Heights, IL

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Lead a classroom of 7-8 elementary students within a building dedicated exclusively to self-contained programs, ensuring close collaboration with experienced colleagues and ample peer support. Your days will be balanced, with a typical workweek of 35 hours and focused instruction in both academic and behavioral domains. New teacher orientation is offered for those on board in time, setting you up for a confident and successful school year.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

• Certification in Special Education or eligibility for LBSI credential
• Experience teaching in self-contained elementary classrooms is highly preferred
• Familiarity with Unique Learning System or STAR curriculum, or a willingness to learn
• Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners using evidence-based strategies
• Strong communication skills and collaborative approach to teaming with other educators and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction tailored to students’ IEPs
• Manage classroom structure and routines to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Collaborate closely with related service providers and other self-contained teachers in the building
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families
• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
