Senior Environmental Manager – Drive the UK’s Energy Transition

Shirley Parsons is proud to be partnering with a leading construction company on a major multi-million-pound infrastructure project at the heart of the UK’s energy transition. This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Environmental Manager to make a meaningful impact on one of the country’s most important sustainability-focused builds – helping the UK move toward energy independence and a lower-carbon future.

If you're passionate about creating lasting environmental impact and want to be part of a project that blends innovation with purpose, this role offers the chance to lead from the front.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on Environmental Excellence – Own and develop the Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring full ISO 14001 compliance while striving for best-in-class performance.
  • Be the Sustainability Voice on Site – Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring environmental goals are not just met – but exceeded.
  • Champion Green Innovation – Create and deliver strategies that reduce waste, improve biodiversity, and drive measurable environmental improvements across complex infrastructure.
  • Educate, Influence & Inspire – Build environmental awareness across project teams through training, workshops, and engagement campaigns that embed a sustainability-first mindset.
  • Collaborate for Climate Impact – Work closely with project managers, regulators, and external stakeholders to co-create progressive and future-ready environmental solutions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience That Makes an Impact – You’ve worked in construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering and understand the practical realities of embedding environmental best practice on complex sites.
  • Confidence With Compliance – You’re well-versed in ISO 14001, EMS frameworks, and UK environmental legislation – and know how to apply them in a pragmatic, results-focused way.
  • A Natural Communicator and Collaborator – You can turn environmental data into stories that drive change, and you're comfortable engaging everyone from operatives on-site to senior stakeholders.
  • Proactive, Practical, and Solution-Oriented – You bring energy, initiative, and the ability to get things done – finding creative solutions and pushing for continuous improvement, even in challenging environments.
  • A Purpose-Driven Environmental Professional – You care about making a difference – not just ticking boxes. You’ll bring a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, and ideally hold certifications such as IEMA.

Why Apply?

This isn’t just another project. It’s a long-term, high-value programme of work with the potential to shape the UK's sustainable infrastructure landscape for years to come. You’ll work with a team that’s committed to innovation, integrity, and positive environmental outcomes – and you’ll have real influence from day one.
