Position Summary:

This role involves overseeing women’s services, managing workflow, and nursing resources.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and assess relevant health data to create and implement personalized care plans that include interventions aimed at achieving measurable outcomes for women and newborns, focusing on family-centered care.
  • Coordinate care delivery to enhance woman-, newborn-, and family-centered practices within your scope of practice. Utilize health education strategies to promote, maintain, or restore health in a safe environment.
  • Assess progress towards achieving expected outcomes in the context of family-centered care.
  • Make ethical decisions and actions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns, guided by a solid ethical framework. Ensure care practices align with principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Engage in communication and collaboration with women, families, healthcare providers, and the community to deliver safe and holistic care.
  • Act as a role model, change agent, consultant, and mentor for women, families, healthcare consumers, and fellow professionals. Stay updated on current evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Utilize or integrate evidence to identify, assess, validate, and evaluate interprofessional knowledge and theories in providing care to women and newborns. Implement new measures to enhance nursing quality as needed.
  • Reflect on your own nursing practice and participate in evaluating others based on current evidence, professional standards, and regulations. Consider resource factors related to safety, effectiveness, and fiscal responsibility in care planning.
  • Ensure environmentally safe and healthy practices when delivering care to women, newborns, and families.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in women’s services nursing, ensuring care meets the specific needs of patients as outlined in the department’s Scope of Service.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety while performing duties.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

EXPERIENCE

  • No prior experience necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly use speech for oral communication.
  • Consistent standing and walking required.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry.
  • Frequent visual acuity for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
  • Regularly use smell to identify odors.
  • Frequent hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional patient handling.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rarely crawling or running.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
