Job Title: Estate Manager – Private Estate

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 plus Relocation Package

Overview:

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Estate Manager to oversee the daily running and long-term management of a prestigious private estate in the heart of the New Forest. The estate is extensive, multi-faceted, and requires a hands-on, practical individual who can combine strong leadership with operational expertise. Discretion, loyalty, and high standards are essential.

The Role:

The Estate Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of a large, historic estate, home to a high-profile family. The role requires both strategic oversight and a practical approach to ensure the smooth functioning of the property and all related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all estate operations including grounds, woodland, gardens, residential properties, security, and maintenance
  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of staff, including gardeners, housekeepers, maintenance workers, and contractors
  • Liaise closely with the Principals and household staff to ensure seamless coordination of household and estate activities
  • Maintain and implement schedules for buildings, machinery, vehicles, and infrastructure maintenance
  • Budgeting and financial oversight of estate operations and project management
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and local authorities
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and implement robust security procedures
  • Support special events and occasional entertaining on the estate

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience managing a large private estate or similar rural property
  • Practical and hands-on approach; willing to assist with tasks across the estate as required
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities
  • Knowledge of land and property management, including conservation and woodland
  • Financially astute with experience managing budgets and procurement
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and respectful of confidentiality
  • Ideally familiar with the New Forest area or similar rural settings
  • Full UK driving licence
