Contribute to the advancement of AI systems focused on scientific and mathematical reasoning by engaging in research that pushes the boundaries of pure and applied mathematics. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside leading AI labs, helping to develop models that require sophisticated reasoning in areas such as number theory, algebra, topology, analysis, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author and review challenging mathematics problems for training and evaluation of advanced AI models.
  • Evaluate model outputs on tasks including proof construction, verification, problem-solving, formalization, and conjecture exploration.
  • Identify areas where current models fail, focusing on subtle errors that experienced mathematicians would recognize.
  • Collaborate with a small program team and other senior contributors.

Qualifications

  • First-author or sole-author publications in top mathematics journals such as Annals of Mathematics, Journal of the AMS, or equivalent.
  • Doctoral or postdoctoral training from a top-20 global institution in mathematics or STEM.
  • Competitive fellowships and honors, such as the Clay Research Fellowship or NSF GRFP.
  • Experience as a named PI or co-PI on NSF CAREER or other grants.
  • Currently or recently engaged in an active research role (PhD candidate, postdoc, instructor, faculty, or industry research mathematician).

Outstanding senior PhD students and recent graduates with strong publication records are encouraged to apply, as the depth of research output is valued over years of experience.

Work Terms

  • Part-time commitment of 8 to 20 hours per week.
  • No fixed end date; contributors will continue as long as their expertise is needed.

Compensation

  • Hourly compensation ranging from $90 to $150, reflecting research seniority and credentials.

Eligibility

This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, requiring a part-time commitment. Contributors will be placed at a leading AI lab as part of their extended workforce.
